One of the core themes of IEEE-HKN is service. As such, we try our best to serve our peers, our community, and underclassmen in the department who are working their way up. Below are some of the services we currently offer (note that some services may only be for members).
We offer mentoring from HKN members, both current and graduated, to any interested students majoring in electrical and computer engineering (including those who are not HKN members). Get advice and suggestions from upperclassmen who actually have “been there before.”

Student/Faculty Brown Bag Lunches
HKN organizes Student/Faculty Brown Bag Lunches with members of the BYU ECE faculty. The purpose of these lunches is to allow students and professors to interact on a casual level. Students will be able to get valuable and informal (life or career) advice from professors, expand their professional networks (perhaps leading to new connections introduced by professors and future employment opportunities), learn about research and opportunities at BYU, as well as give feedback and recommendations on department courses or program structure. We hope that this program will help students feel more comfortable interacting with the professors and department in general.
Lunches are held on campus on Thursdays at 11 AM to avoid conflict with the majority of university classes. If you are not free during this hour, we apologize that we are unable to accommodate you but invite you to participate in this program in future semesters. You may still fill out this interest form to receive a reminder in future semesters.
